[livejournal.com profile] mctabby has her 3rd friending frenzy going on. I got in somewhat early on page 1! Yeah surprised me too but I was up really late last night so ... have had some response and I say to the new folks WELCOME. Hang around comment when you wish and yes I will add you to my flist so I can see what you are about. I am pretty Snapecentric, leaning to the he's a good guy and killed AD for a reason that AD agreed with. If he does turn out ESE! I will be upset but I will survive and adapt to it.

[livejournal.com profile] junediamanti posted a Snapegen story yesterday who's name I've clean forgotten that was excellent. I suspect many in the fandom have read it already since it was Snitched.  Ah just checked her LJ title is "An Unbreakable Promise".  Excellent story, very thought provoking.  She added in her notes at the end that she doesn't think much of the manipulative!Dumbledore thing that has been out and around in the fandom probably since OotP or maybe before. I can understand her dislike of it, especially after reading some fanfic that portrays the man as totally evil. I don't see Dumbledore as an evil being but I do see him as a war leader who may have to do things he doesn't like and accepts that this is war and death does happen. I said in comments yesterday that he really does not want to stoop to the level of the opposition(why yes I am expanding a bit on this) because to him that would be losing even if they won. And I thought about that for awhile. We don't want to see the 'good guys' acting as badly as the bad guys. I remember reaidng book 4 when Sirius described the methods used by Crouch Sr and being revolted. Mainly because his Aurors became DEs with some offiicial sanction and were STILL losing the war. When you sink to their level where is the choice? Is there choice then? Dumbledore when he lectured Fudge on approaching the giants and werewolves and getting rid of the dementors had the right idea. When the other side is being exclusive the opposition had better get inclusive. It was to me one of his best moments in all 6 of the books. And it clearly showed me that he was NOT willing to be as his opposition is. So even though I disliked his methods in book 5 and in book 6 he honestly perplexed me with his turnaround and some of his egotism, I thought okay. He's a war leader on his last ride, because I did expect him to die in either book 6 or 7. Just knew he would not live to see the end of it, and I could tell in book 6 he didn't think he would either.

But Dumbledore does perplex me at times. I can read him in the WYSIWYG(what you see is what you get) and like him. I can look deeper and see things I don't like and still respect him. But I don't think I understand him very well and I can see why some characters would get aggravated by him. He can be incredibly cryptic and in not telling Harry about the prophecy he was incredibly mistaken. He's a puzzle to me that I enjoy worrying at, but know I might never solve. Ah well comments welcome as usual. Any opinion is welcome. Ask [livejournal.com profile] straussmonster she usually disagrees with me but damn she makes me think and I love seeing her comments.
ETA: Roomie just called. He's supposed to be in Houston this week. But NO! They sent him to Beaumont. There isn't a hotel room to be had there after that bitch Rita went through so he's out looking for a place to sleep and he will probably have to go back to Houston to find that, and not in a good mood. Poor man. I can't understand why his company DIDN'T check on room availability BEFORE sending him there. I know there are people still not in their homes after the hurricane hit because of damage. Some of them are in the fandom and that folks is the reason TSS is still down. The two owners are affected by Rita and Katrina. It never bloody ends sometimes.
