Ah wonderful week here...NOT! Yesterday was one of those days that I shoulda stayed in bed. First my computer started to overheat. CPU temp should NOT go up to 148F. So knowing the proc wasn't burned out but was in danger of burning out I shut down and swapped out systems. I have an older and slower system here that we put together to give to Roomie's mom last yr. Good thing we didn't, dang thing is shamefully low on RAM and woefully underpowered. Welll I hook it up and my monitor decides death is a good thing. My monitor was 7 yrs old folks so it lived a good long life and as luck has it, I had a spare. So spare monitor gets hooked up and main system gets taken down stairs to blow out the dust and see which fan is causing the issue. Hmm can we say heatsink assembly? Knew we could. Turns out the damned thing was CLOGGED with dust! So after blowing it out I now have main beast working which is a relief since it has ever so much more RAM and power along with all my favorite things on the hard drive. Roomie and I will be picking up the 20" monitor he has for me at his office later this week so I can retire this monitor also. It's not a bad monitor, 17" trinitron marketed by Apple with a PC video connection but oh boy it sure makes me realise how bad the previous monitor had gotten.

Fandom is happening as usual. Been reading some interesting stuff over on Ashwinder and of all places the Pit of Voles(affectionately known as FF.net). Go to this author page and read everything. It's that good. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/600035/   On Ashwinder read "For Your Pleasure" by LariLee, an interesting take on the Gigolo challenge with forced marriage tossed in for fun. Snape is such a bastard in this, the comeuppance which hasn't occurred so far had better be devastating.  Other folk have been reccing other fics lately one of which I read recently is "Cambiare Podentes" by AspeninSunlight. Aspen now has a fic page of her(?) own http://aalno.tauri.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=d21b0cf27c5b0ab213bbeb16223ac0e7 where this story is stored and updated regularly. It is Snarry but she was a Gen story there also that is well worth reading.

The Ashwinder Spring Faire constest is going and that looks to be interesting. I started crowing quietly when I read the advert in [livejournal.com profile] junediamanti 's LJ yesterday. She took a thought, an almost off the cuff comment I made in her LJ and used it as one of the challenges. Yeppers I felt like whoa! Someone liked an idea of mine. It's the little things ya know? This is big for me since I am not a creative writer unless you count programming documentation as creative writing. I am an appreciator of good writing and I like to think I am a reason for writers to put their stuff up on teh interweb. Interweb sounds so much friendlier than Internet. Internet afterall was the name the military geeks who created this gave it. Time for us users and nonmilitary to name it. Some of what my flist has been discussing has been interesting. I am waiting a bit to go read [livejournal.com profile] avus 's story here but I know it will have an interesting take on TM Riddle. He posted yesterday in his LJ concerning orphanages and how orphanage kids were denied many of the things we know kids need, such as touch among other things. It was an interesting entry and if you haven't friended him yet, what are ya waiting for? Man is wicked interesting and yes smart as hell too. Reason I am waiting to read his story is I hate waiting on updates and I know I would nag him to update faster so I will wait til he has more than 3-4 chapters up and go over to FA to read then. He is posting on Schnoogle.

Birthday is on friday, Roomie won't be traveling so it looks like beer and sushi are in my plans for the birthday. If he really can't handle sushi it will be TexMex with killer Mexican Martini's. The restaurant I get those at will only sell ya two since by the time you finish the second one you're drunk. Ah life is good.
