Sep. 14th, 2005 06:48 pmFinally having some fandom thoughts after Katrina here. Read a story posted for Wizard_Trauma by
cluegirl,
she also posted it at her LJ today. It's called "Silent All These
Years", genfic main interaction is Sirius and Bellatrix. No incest for
those who squick at that, but there is language, lots of language. Done
in the form of letters between the two it really shows that in the war
JKR has set up no one will really win and the purebloods will lose the
most. It kind of reminded me and from what the author has commented to
my comment, it reminds her also, of the American Civil War where
brother faught brother and the bitterness continued to linger for many
yrs after the war ended. I suspect there will be that in the wizarding
world if it really existed and JKR wants to revisit her universe. What
came through in this story is that Sirius and Bella are family and they
grew up knowing each other's secrets. For all that their choices are
very different they are people with shared experiences and shared
knowledge. This to me is a microcosm of what all of the purebloods in
JKR's world must be facing. To some extent even the half bloods face
that. The only group NOT fighting relatives are the muggleborns. So
what will the lingering effects of the war be? Families sundered by
this and other things? Just a thought but when the enemy comes from
your own the war is usually much more personal and bitter. Because when
it's done you still have to deal with those you fought against. I
cannot see everyone who supported Voldie going to Axkaban, it aint big
enough for all of them. And everyone will be burying their dead on both
sides of this so how will they recover. Opinions wanted here.
