May. 17th, 2005 06:16 pmRoomie left town today for a job in San Antonio. Ah well less of a drive than Houston which means a lot to him. Went there last week for daughter's college graduation. 3+hrs on the road for boring speeches, a long ceremony and joy of joys(NOT!) seeing my exhusband for the first time in over 2 yrs. God he's gotten old. And yeah we didn't stay long because me and the ex in one place is a BAD thing. Trust me it is.
junediamanti started up
potter_cliches this week and it's definitely taken off. I cannot believe how many cliches there are in the fandom. Some of them I actually enjoy. Others? No, not anymore. Overdone and should be retired are some of them. The one that hasn't been brought up yet is Vampire!Snape. Oh now that I said it someone will post it. I have pretty much said a few things like the founder's heir thingie that annoys me at times. For one thing, don't they keep bloodlines? Or are they not considered important except with some more snobbish examples like the Black and Malfoy families. Severitus caught it from me because there have been so many of them. Arranged marriages, death eater cliches and such all got some airing over there. Fun community and yes the entries are fun without hitting on any particular story which I think takes a lot of the wangst out of it.
Not much else going on here. We were supposed to set up last saturday for the neighborhood garage sale and hopefully get rid of some of the bloody printers we have cluttering up the dining room and some of the books that neither one of us wants but we were rained out. Pity I really do want those damned HP LaserJet 4s gone. Roomie got em yrs ago and wanted to put them on eBay until he realised the shipping would be more than he got for the printers. We've sold some in the news groups but damn we still have a ton of them. Roomie is giving me his DVDRom soon as he just ordered a DVDR/CDRW combo drive online. He just got the Tiger update of OSX for his Mac and bought an accelerator card for the G4, so he wiped out his paypal acct. Ah well the joys of geekdom.
