Too much wank lately in fandom. kunediamanti  and aphrodeia have been catching it over at Sycophanthex and fandom_wank. Ya know I am really glad I never bothered with the mailing lists and just hit the archives when I joined this fandom or I think I woulda been out of it along time ago and missed a lot of good fiction. I used to participate in debate over on the Trek msg boards yrs ago and we could get contentious but it was never personal in the way I am seeing in HP

In other news there will be no new Trek in the next TV season. Paramount pulled the plug on the last Trek show this week causing a lot of fans to be upset. I'm not. I got fried on Trek when Voyager became the Seven of Nine show in an attempt to get the testosterone market. They pretty much trashed a good show and then used the same elements to create another show that has only this season caught on. Well Paramount you screwed the pooch and you screwed it bad. I really hope they give it a rest and wait before coming back up with another series.

There have been rants lately on LJ concerning different things in fandom, aspects if you will that annoy some of us to death. junediamanti did two recently and I commented on both. One was MPREG of all things. And another was the concept of Dark Revels. Vile things. Riley created the Dark Revel to give PtoQ more oomph or was it plot? She did us all a serious injustice when she did. Or maybe not. Perhaps it was the fandom picking it up and running with it that did it. I'll never know for sure and at this point I don't much care. The whole concept of this is just so odd if ya know what I mean. I can't say for sure because JKR has shown no DE meetings other than the first one after he rose again but I doubt they all meet en masse and submit to crucio every time Voldie gets his panties in a bunch. First off these guys are supposed to have some brains. Racist asshats? Yeah but smart racist asshats. Given that many of them have reached places of influence in the WW (ie the ministry) I don't think they would put up with crucio too much nor would they go in for orgies with muggles or muggleborns as entertainment.  The orgy thing is thug behavior and while they are thugs they have pretensions of refinement. Bluntly if he wants them to follow him he will not punish them, he needs them healthy and healthy is not getting over the nightly debauchery or cruciatus rounds. Just a thought after waay too many fanfics that have Snape crawling back into the castle after Voldie has laid on the crucio. Too much of it will kill you or render you pretty much useless. Snape can't be punished like that and keep his cover, Voldie knows this. So why do writers write it this way?

Ah well a mini rant. I have been reading a lot of fanfiction lately and one that I have been reading on FF.net is a parody of the Harry goes to Azkaban fics and how he reacts when all those who betrayed him(of course he was innocent) react when he gets out. It;s called Harry Potter and the Azkaban Parody by Fangalla heres the link.http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2205019/1/   Funny and a bit biting she parodies all of them. That is a subgenre on ff.net lately. Harry gets charged/arrested with a murder of someone either Cedric Diggory if pre OotP or someone else if post, everyone buys the evidence against him including Albus and he ends up in prison. Of course he was set up by either LV or a loyal minion and it goes from there. Harry of course knows he did nothing of the sort and isn't too happy with his friends when he gets out after killing LV usually who rubs it into the Order's face that a)Harry was set up, b) they didn't bother finding out the truth c) offering him a minion spot where Harry tells him no way and kills him. Some of these have been good, some have not.

Of course Ashwinder gets a daily visit and so do some other archives but not much to mention there.

Roomie is out of town again. He wasn't supposed to be but monday his boss called and to Houston he went. He gets back later today. For the weekend and then he probably has to go again. Ugh he hates it and the house is waay too quiet when he goes.
