Lately I've been thinking about the HP thing. New canon coming soon and yes some questions will be answered, others I am sure won't. Disjointed things that hit me at times.

Hogwarts is the only wizarding school in Britain? That's kind of mind boggling there. Since the student population is not large you wonder where the really poor kids go. I don't count the Weasleys as poor because all seven kids attended Hogwarts and someone had to pay the tuition. So where do the really poor kids go to learn magic and stuff? I truly doubt the ministry subsidises education, doesn't seem like the done thing.

Pureblood superiority. Hmmm, are all DEs wealthy? I think not. I think in some ways the DEs who are, tend to be the exception. The whole pureblood thing makes me think of the poor white southerner who would look at his black neighbor and say to himself "well at least I am white" and look down on the other because he could use that to think he was superior even if his economic situation was as bad as or worse than his neighbor. Something to make a failure feel better about himself? Just a thought.

Is Harry rich? Yeah I know the movie shows a vault full of gold. I know he sees a vault with lots of gold in the book, but is he wealthy or is it an 11 yr old who's never had a pound thinking here? Just how wealthy is he? And was it the Potters who had the money? And who controls the money while he is a minor. Obviously not his muggle relatives, so who has power of attorney as we call it in the States?

Sirius Black's money. His family had some, so who gets it now that he's dead? And who gets Grimmauld Place? Will they even tell anyone besides the Order he's dead? Hmmm more to think about.

Severus Snape. Oh come on, you knew it was coming. I always think of him in the Potterverse! Will we find out all his secrets soon or will we have to wait until the end? Personally I want to know yesterday! Was it really all about Lily? I hope not! Sorry [livejournal.com profile] junediamanti  I'd gag if there was some unrequited love/lust/like thing there. To me that would be just ugh and cliche as hell since fanfiction has already mined that particular angle to death. What I would like it to be was Severus woke up one day and realised he just didn't feel like killing tonight, and then acted on it by going to Albus. I'd like it to be a matter of priniciple rather than love for some girl he was never going to have anyways.

Everyone has their death list ready and waiting and one person I never mentioned along with others but I read a good argument for this morning is Minerva McGonagall. I can't remember who's LJ, might have been Snitched by the Daily_Snitch but the writer who posted gave a damned good argument for her death. Will have to think on that. And no I don't want her dead. I like her.

The Malfoys. Are they totally evil? Do they eat roast house elves after they abuse them to the death? Are they really the Heydrichs of the WW? The whole blonde hair silver eye thing, does that make them the poster family of pureblood superiority? Everytime I read about them I think: Aryan. Are they really inbred enough to give the Royal Family a run for their money? Food for more thought here.

Slytherin House. I know that the books are very black and white but to say that 11 yr olds are evil based on the sorting hat's sending them to Slytherin is pretty damned judgemental. That bugs me. The rabid antiSlytherin sentiment shown in the books bothers me because that is 1/4 of the school along with probably that in the general population. I can't buy it, and it bothers me.

Just some thoughts here, have at. Comments totally welcome.
